Golf Help For Your Swing
When beginners search for golf help, or ask fellow golfers for tips and advice, one of the most common issues is the swing. Let’s face it, if the swing goes wrong, the stroke is doomed and so is your game.
So if you cannot figure out where your swing is going wrong and need some serious golf help, the following tips may be useful to you.
How is Your Setup?
- The first, and most basic, aspect of your swing is the setup. No doubt, you have read and heard these things said many times before, but they are worth reiterating, because the solution to your swing problem may be a very simple one.
- Ensure that you are balanced. In blustery conditions, this can be more difficult, so make sure that your feet are far enough apart to support your back.
- Although your legs need to be firm, the knees should not be locked. Try gently bouncing the knees to ensure they are nice and loose.
- Relax the shoulders.
- Make sure that you are standing exactly parallel to the target.
- Keep your head still.
Golf Help: Backswing
It is essential that your swing starts well. Therefore, the backswing is all-important. In fact, many golfers find that once they have mastered the perfect backswing the rest of the stroke follows naturally. To ensure that you have a good backswing, try following these simple steps.
- Try to keep your hips, shoulders, arms and hands working in one fluid motion. Remember, if your whole body is moving in conjunction, your action will be beautifully smooth and slick.
- While moving, your weight should be transferred to the back foot.
- Keep the club head near to the ground for as long as possible, because this will give you a great wide arc.
- Try to imagine your body as a spring, which is building up energy for the release.
- You may find it helpful to stop the swing as the club comes parallel to the ground. Take a quick look at the club head; if it is at a 90-degree angle with the ground, then your swing is looking good.
- As your arms move back, make a conscious effort to turn your shoulders.
- Twist at the hips and ensure that the club head is directed skyward.
- By this point, 90% of your weight should be placed on the back foot.
Golf Help: Striking the Ball
Once you are perfectly positioned on the backswing the moment has come to strike the ball. The most important thing to remember throughout the downswing and follow through is to keep the motion smooth. There are three key factors to remember when hitting the ball:
- Always try to hit through the ball (will ensure a good clean stroke).
- During the downswing, roll the right forearm over the left.
- At the moment of impact, open your shoulders. (will ensure that the club swings with maximum force).
With some practice, these steps should help to improve your swing and help you start winning!
